I have recently accepted a new position at UNCG in the UNCG Libraries as the Online Learning Librarian beginning January 9th, 2017.  My last day at the SOE will be January 6th, 2017.
I have loved my time here at the SOE and have treasured my time working with all of the faculty and staff.  I have learned a lot from all of you, and  I hope to continue working and seeing all of you in my new position.   Please let me know if you have any questions from me before January 9th in terms of SOE instructional technology issues.

Working Papers in Education

We are excited to announce the publication of Volume 2 of the UNCG Working Papers in Education https://libjournal.uncg.edu/index.php/wpe. Thank you to the editors Saed Qunbar (ERM), Patrick Hales (TEHE), Carrie Hart (ELC), and to J.B. Weir (ERM) and Cherese Childers-Mckee (ELC) for their dedication. This issue features three papers by Robyn Thomas Pitts and Oksana Naumenko; Lalenja Harrington, Kimberly D. Miller, Denise Sumiel; and Kelly M. O’Donnell. Thank you to the authors for the contributions to the journal!
The focus of the journal has shifted to for our next issue be inclusive of all graduate programs in the School of Education. Please see the attached flyers with details of the Call for Papers (January 20, 2017 deadline) and upcoming workshops.

SOE Instructional Technology: Canvas Arc

UNCG ITS has paid for a trial of Canvas Arc for Spring 2017, an interactive video management system integrated with Canvas.

“Arc is a communication tool that allows instructors and students to actively collaborate through video through all elements of Canvas with a Rich Content Editor (Pages, Discussions, Assignments, etc).”

Turnitin Integration with Canvas

Turnitin Originality Detector has changed the way it integrates in Canvas.  It now works through an LTI integration with Assignments, which significantly changes the way it works and looks in Canvas versus how it worked in past semesters.
