2016-2017 Yopp Distinguished Speaker Series in Mathematics Education Fall Speaker
The TEHE Mathematics Education Faculty are pleased to announce the Fall speaker for the 2016–2017 Yopp Distinguished Speaker Series in Mathematics Education. Dr. Robert Q. Berry, III will give a talk from 5–6:30 pm on October 5, 2016. His research focuses on equity issues in mathematics education, with a particular focus on African American boys. The talk will be designed for the broader community so please invite interested educators from local districts. (See the attached Save-the-Date flyer for more details.)

WebEx Transition
UNC Greensboro has officially transitioned from the SLMS (video conferencing) Blackboard Collaborate to WebEx. You have the option to use Blackboard Collaborate until July 2016, but it is in the process of being phased out to WebEx. DEVELOPMENT UPDATES
We would like to thank Dr. Monette Weaver Wood. Earlier this year, she established the Elvira Worth Foust Plonk, Class of 1908, Endowed Scholarship in Education with a gift of $30,000. This fund is in honor of her maternal grandmother, Elvira Worth Foust Plonk. Elvira is also a relative of Chancelor Julius Foust. This is a new pledge for $20,000 to be added to the fund and is a gift in honor of Monette’s upcoming 50th Class Reunion.
An additional contribution of $49,513.81 from the estate of Willie Ellen Trexler, ’40 has been contributed to the Willie Ellen Trexler, Class of 1940, Scholarship in Education. This fund is for training and education of prospective teachers who plan to teach in North Carolina.
