U.S. News and World Report ranked the University of North Carolina at Greensboro’s Department of Counseling and Educational Development (CED) No. 2 nationally for the second year in a row.

“The faculty in the Department of Counseling and Educational Development are thrilled by the recent No. 2 ranking from US News and World Report,” said Scott Young, CED department chair. “Such national recognition of our work and the high quality programs the department offers is wonderful validation of the department’s years of sustained commitment to excellence.”

CED, housed in the School of Education, is home to a doctorate program, four master’s programs, four educational specialist programs, and a post-master’s certificate program.

“We are honored to enjoy the distinction of being home to the highest ranked programs on the UNCG campus and the opportunity to provide cutting-edge training to our students that positively impacts the residents of North Carolina and beyond,” Young concluded.

The recognition highlights the CED faculty’s contributions not only to the surrounding Triad communities, but also to the state, nation, and world.

“I am delighted to learn that the Department of Counseling and Educational Development has been ranked No. 2 in the nation by the US News and World Report for the second straight year,” added School of Education Interim Dean Randy Penfield. “This ranking confirms the long history of world-class training offered by the department, and serves as recognition of the outstanding contributions that the department and the UNCG School of Education make throughout North Carolina and the nation.”
