In 1993, Marilyn Miller extended the reach of the UNCG LIS program into Virginia since they have never had an accredited LIS program, and they had asked our help.  We received approval to offer our entire masters degree by what then passed for distance education technology–satellite and cable hookup.  There were five sites: Charlottesville, Blacksburg, Roanoke, Emory & Henry, and Clinch Valley, and almost 100 students.  The last of the students graduated in 1997 or 1998.  It was a big commitment on their part and ours, and some of us have kept in touch over the years.  On July 30, 2016, some of the graduates and LIS faculty got together for a reunion.
