ANNOUNCEMENTS

Thank you from the Youngs

Colleagues,

Sara and I want to say a heart-felt thank you for the generosity and kindness that so many of you have shown us following my accident. We commented to one another regularly about the thoughtfulness of bringing food and sending cards, even though you may not know me well. What a tremendous group of people work in the SOE and my family and I are deeply grateful to you.

Warm Reagrds,

Scott Young

STUDENT/ALUMNI/FACULTY ACCOMPLISHMENTS

Dr. Brad Johnson (TEHE) was recently elected as Secretary of the Faculty Senate for 2016-2018.

Drs. Deborah Taub & Brad Johnson’s (TEHE) article, “The implementation of gender-neutral housing:  A mixed-methods study across ACUHO-I member institutions” was recently published in the Journal of College and University Student Housing.  Deb and Brad also co-edited a special edition of the Journal of College and University Student Housing focusing on Resident Assistants that was also recently published.

Evaluating Student Learning Outcomes in Counselor Education was written and edited by Casey A. Barrio Minton, Donna M. Gibson, and Carrie A. Wachter Morris (CED).

Evaluating Student Learning Outcomes in Counselor Education provides a comprehensive examination of program evaluation in counselor education and step-by-step guidance for faculty seeking to develop Student Learning Outcome (SLO) evaluation plans to meet accountability expectations. It lays the foundation for the SLO process and emphasizes the quality of learning through evidence-based assessment of students’ knowledge and skills.

As part of National Teacher Appreciation Month in May, the News & Record has published teacher appreciations.  A parent at Southeast Guilford High School nominated Courtney Jordan (CED alumna), the 10th grade counseling at Southeast.  The parent wrote, “Ms. Jordan…is an outstanding mentor to and for our students. She is always available to answer questions, offer advice and encourage students to do their best.”  (see News & Record, Monday, May 16, 2016, p. B6.)
