SES Students, Staff and Faculty Part of the Inaugural UNITE Downtown Greensboro

Students, staff and faculty were participants in the inaugural UNITE Downtown Greensboro event on Sunday, April 2 to celebrate the inclusiveness and diversity of individuals with special needs and their families. Breanne Holt and Christina Santiago, class of 2018 dual majors in elementary education and special education, Wayne Johnson, SES administrative associate, and Drs. Stephanie Kurtts and Sam Miller were part of over 25 local agencies that participated in sharing resources and information on individuals with disabilities to the many community members enjoying the beautiful day at LeBauer Park in downtown Greensboro.

Yopp Distinguished Speaker Series in Mathematics Education

The TEHE Mathematics Education Faculty are pleased to announce the Spring speaker for the 2016–2017 Yopp Distinguished Speaker Series in Mathematics Education.  Dr. Samuel Otten will give a talk from 5–6:30 pm on Wednesday, May 17, 2017.  His research focuses on discourse in middle and high school mathematics classrooms, and he also studies flipped mathematics classrooms. Congratulations to Dr. Holt Wilson (TEHE) on his award from UNC General Administration NC Quest Program for his project “CMaPSS II:  Sustaining Core Mathematics Instructional Practices in Secondary Schools.”  This project is supported by funds from the U.S. Department of Education.
