FACULTY, STUDENT AND ALUMNI ACCOMPLISHMENTS

The NBCC Foundation, an affiliate of the National Board for Certified Counselors (NBCC), recently selected Joy Victoria Kelly (CED Ph.D. student), of Goldsboro, North Carolina, for the National Board for Certified Counselors Minority Fellowship Program (NBCC MFP). As an NBCC MFP fellow, Kelly will receive funding and training to support her education and facilitate her service to underserved minority populations. The NBCC MFP will distribute $20,000 to Kelly and the 22 other doctoral counseling students selected to receive the fellowship award.

DEVELOPMENT UPDATES

We would like to thank the Self Foundation for their payment of $50,000 towards their $250,000 pledge to the Sara Smith Self Foundation School of Education Program Fund.

This gift not only helped with the development of the collaborative “makerspace” area known as the SELF Design Studio, but also was a critical piece towards the School of Education receiving the Federal Teacher Quality Partnership grant for Transforming Teaching through Technology in 2014.
