SOE Advisory Board
The SOE Advisory Board met Friday, February 24, 2017. The meeting was led by Board Chair, Dr. Jean Camp (Former SOE Faculty and Alumna), and featured presentations from Dean Randy Penfield and Board Governance Chair, Dr. Donna Peters (SOE Alumna) on the SOE Strategic Plan and Advisory Board Structure and Committees. The Advisory Board is made up of members of the education, business, public service, and alumni community and serves as a resource to the Dean. The Board is looking forward to an exciting year ahead!

Hosted by the Educational Research Methodology Department at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro
Keynote speaker: Dr. Jennifer Greene, the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign
The 2017 theme is Broadening Voices in Evaluation, a focus intended to promote diversity and the novice evaluator’s dialogue, research, and practice. This conference will serve as a space where students with diverse backgrounds and experience can discuss theory and practice and share their unique work and studies.
Pre-Conference events (to be held on Thursday, March 30) include:
- Workshop: Dr. Jill Chouinard and Dr. Ayesha Boyce will lead a half-day workshop session on Culturally Responsive approaches to evaluation.
- Networking: The conference will also feature a pre-conference networking event.
Please join us for this graduate student-led regional conference for graduate students and new evaluators. Professors are also invited to attend. Presentation formats include paper presentations, poster presentations, and round table discussions.
The call for proposal is open until February 15.

FACULTY AND STUDENT ACCOMPLISHMENTS
Dr. Simone Lambert, a CED alum, has been elected the 67th President of the American Counseling Association (ACA). Dr. Lambert will begin her president-elect term onJuly 1 of this year, and then will serve her term as president starting July 1, 2018. ACA is “the world’s largest association exclusively representing professional counselors in various practice settings,” and has 56 charted branches in the U.S., Europe, and Latin America.
