SOE Public Communications
The Communications, Media, and Events group promotes the mission and identify of the School of Education (SOE) through a variety of print and online publications for students, parents, alumni, faculty, staff, friends of SOE, and the general public.
The SOE Public Communications Specialist acts as the liaison between the School of Education and university, including local, regional, and nationwide outlets in print, broadcast, and electronic formats. Faculty and staff members wishing to publicize university events, awards and honors, research activities, publications and student achievements through the SOE and Alumni web-based newsfeeds, SOE social media, press releases, and Campus Weekly.
There are three avenues that you can use to help quickly share news and events information with your preferred audience. Choose from the links below your preferred method for sharing your story. Filling out one form will not ensure you information is shared through all these methods, so if you wish to submit to all three you will need to fill out all three forms.

+ Social Media
Social media is an immediate avenue that your group can use to keep your audience informed of news and events. In the School of Education (SOE), the SOE Public Communications Specialist manages their social media channels, including Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.
When posting to your units’ accounts or personal accounts, be sure to tag UNCG School of Education (Facebook) or @uncgschoolofedu (Twitter & Instagram) so that the Public Communications Specialist is alerted of your posts and can share them through the SOE accounts. You can also share your news, updates, and events directly on SOE’s social media accounts (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram) by filling out this form.

Launching a new social channel
Units within the School of Education who are considering starting a new UNC Greensboro branded social media channel should begin by contacting the SOE Public Communications Specialist. She will work with you to understand the resources, time commitment, and scheduling process, and planning that should be in place prior to implementing a new social media channel. Rosalie will help you to assess which types of social media tools will work best to meet your goals and assist you through the process of establishing an officially recognized social media site.
+ SOE-News
SOE-News is a monthly electronic newsletter geared toward current students, alumni, donors, other schools within UNCG, as well as Deans of other universities across the country. It features stories about what’s going on within the SOE, including both student and faculty research (funded and unfunded), faculty awards and honors, alumni news and updates, new scholarships and programs, and major events.
The purpose of SOE-News is to disseminate information about:
- The impact of SOE faculty, staff, students, and alumni on the nation, the state, and the region.
- Recognition of the contributions of SOE supporters, including donors, advocates, elected officials, and other champions of education.
Please note that it is at the discretion of the Public Communications Specialist of what to include in the monthly newsletter. Stories that are not suitable for SOE-News can still be featured on SOE’s website and social media accounts.

Two digital screens are available in the School of Education Building to provide information on (a) transformative educational experiences; (b) innovation and research and bridging discovery with teaching and practice; (c) the promotion of equity, diversity, and inclusion; and (d) events and activities fostering an engaged and collaborative community.
