Dr. Rebecca Morris has published School Libraries and Student Learning: A Guide for School Leaders (Harvard Education Press). The book demonstrates how school leaders can strengthen and support quality school library programs for key learning outcomes, including interdisciplinary curricular content learning, critical thinking and inquiry, multiple literacies, personal growth and collaboration, and college and career readiness. Rebecca is also one of the co-editors of the new publication School Library Connection, published by ABC-CLIO. This is a new print magazine and online professional development suite that merges the former Library Media Connection and School Library Monthly. Her area of focus is “Libraries in Context,” which considers the broader picture of education in which school libraries operate.

If any faculty or graduate students are interested in writing short articles about experiences collaborating with school library programs, or if you have topics that school librarians may be interested in reading, please contact Rebecca at rjmorris@uncg.edu. A few topics of interest are inquiry, needs of students and families, community outreach, educators as leaders, bridging from high-school to post-secondary, and professional development. Follow the publication @SLC_Online for updates on the debut of the online resource.
