Biography
Dr. Boyce’s research focuses on attending to value stances and issues related to diversity, equity, access, climate, cultural responsiveness, and restorative justice within evaluation—especially multi-site, STEM, and contexts with historically marginalized populations. She also examines teaching, training, and novice learning in evaluation. Dr. Boyce has evaluated many programs funded by the National Science Foundation (NSF), including Science and Technology Centers, Centers for Chemical Innovation, Network for Computational Nanotechnology Nodes, Research Experiences for Undergraduates, Research Experiences for Teachers, and Integrative Graduate Education and Research Traineeships. She is currently an external evaluator for four NSF (HBCU-UP TIP, CCBM CREST, NanoMFG Node, and IUSE) projects. She has also evaluated programs funded by the US Department of Education, National Institutes of Health, Arizona Department of Education, Title VI, Illinois P-20 Council, and Spencer and Teagle foundations. Dr. Boyce is a Co-PI (research lead) on the recently funded 1 million dollar NSF S-STEM: STAMPS (Science, Technology, and Math Preparation Scholarships) Program at UNCG. She currently sits on the American Evaluation Association (AEA) Thought Leaders Committee for “An AEA Dialogue on Race and Class.” From 2014-2016 she was the Chair of the AEA STEM Education and Training TIG. Dr. Boyce is a Senior Fellow for the UNCG Office of Assessment, Evaluation, and Research Services (OAERS). She teaches classes in program evaluation and research methodology where she emphasizes good practice with mindful attentiveness to theoretical roots.
