Interested in volunteering in the studio as a Maker in Residence?

Apply here: Spring 2019 Application

Our Makers in Residence are an important part of our space here at the SELF Design Studio. Makers in Residence help with:

  • Student appointments
  • Workshops on tools
  • Classes
  • Exhibitions and Makerfaires
  • Organization and other studio projects

Each semester we bring in a new group of SOE students to train as MiRs.  As a Maker in Residence, you will have the opportunity to learn about a variety of makerspace tools (such as 3D printers, Makey Makeys, littleBits, laser engraver, and robotics kits).  You will also get valuable practice teaching other students how to use these tools, be able to work on personal maker projects, and gain great experience for your resume.  As an added BONUS: you will make some really cool friends!

Makers in Residence volunteer in the SELF Design Studio for 4 hours per week – either in one 4 hour shift or two 2 hour shifts.  You may also occasionally have the option to sign up for weekend hours for special events.
