Are you driven by the belief that all people deserve the support systems to live, learn and work as independently as possible? Would you like to be a part of a diverse field that values and supports the dignity and rights of all individuals – especially children and adults with disabilities, and those who are deaf or hard-of-hearing?
Join the UNCG Department of Specialized Education Services (SES) where we promote the successful inclusion of individuals with disabilities in society through excellence in the education of teachers and leaders, learning new skills, and the application of existing knowledge.
Whether students choose a degree in Birth through Kindergarten, Professions in Deafness (PID), or Special Education, a large part of their education centers on experiential learning in which they are engaged directly with the community they seek to serve. Students in our programs are uniquely positioned to learn from leaders in the field while simultaneously applying that learning in individually relevant professional settings.
Through community-engaged teaching, research, and service, students gain the knowledge, skills, and hands-on experience necessary to make valuable contributions in institutions of higher education, state education systems, school systems, and community services.
No matter your area of focus, you’ll gain the ability and experience that will position you as a leader in Special education and community services, helping to foster inclusive education and inclusion in the community. This is our driving force as an academic community, and we invite you to become part of it.
